UNITED STATES of America's

Carly Brigaman

Hello everyone, I am Carly Brigaman, your USOA Mrs. Pennsylvania 2023.

I earned my Doctorate of Pharmacy degree and have been working in the healthcare industry for nearly 20 years where I specialize in trauma and oncology.

My platform “Got Insulin?” was created in honor of my nephew Carter who is a Type1

Diabetic and I am an advocate for affordable insulin for all diabetics.  I am a member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Pennsylvania Advocacy Team and part of the Diabetes Patient Advocacy Coalition Pennsylvania team.

I work with local and state representatives, legislators, congressmen, and senators to pass the Affordable Insulin Now Act that would cap insulin copays at $35.   I also work with pharmacists and regional pharmacy managers to ensure that diabetics are never without insulin refills in their pharmacies.  With over 100 pharmacies contacted, 98 did not know about the 2018 Emergency Prescription Law that allows pharmacists to dispense a 30-day supply of insulin to patients who have run out of refills.

In my spare time, I fill my schedule with organizations that are very personal to me.  Hope on Horseback Therapeutic Riding Center, Dress for Success Erie, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are just a handful of causes that I work with.  Volunteer work give so much back to my community and I am humbled to be a part of that.

I am married to the best partner in life I could have ever asked for, Timmy.  Lilly, Diesel and Sophia are our very spoiled and pampered fur kids.  I was introduced to archery as a young girl at Girl Scouts, which grew into a favorite past time that I get to now share with my husband.  Some say I am still a kid at heart, and they would not be wrong.  Building Lego sets, growing my collection and enjoying all things Harry Potter keep me young.  I also enjoy crafting and quilting that I learned from my Grandma.

I am so excited for the next year and to have you all join me in this incredible journey.  Thank you all so much for this spectacular opportunity to represent this incredible state of Pennsylvania that I was born and raised in.  I hope to make you all proud!
